Entry and travel requirements

This page explains the categories of requirement that apply to travel between the United Arab Emirates and Somalia. It does not state the current rules, because those can change at short notice and a stale encyclopedia entry is worse than none.

Why the rules are not reproduced here

Visa policy, validity of passports, health documentation and customs allowances are all set by governments and revised from time to time. Publishing them from memory, or from a summary written before the last change, creates exactly the kind of confident error that makes a reference work untrustworthy. The specification this site is built to requires current travel requirements to be checked against official sources before publication, and to carry a visible verification date.

Where to check, officially

The authoritative places to confirm requirements are: the embassy or consulate of Somalia in the United Arab Emirates; the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; the immigration authority of the destination; and the airline operating the route, which applies document checks at boarding. Check at least one government source — airline summaries are convenient but are not the authority.

Passports, visas and duration of stay

Confirm three things before booking: the passport validity required on entry (many destinations require several months beyond your intended departure), whether you need a visa in advance or can obtain one on arrival or electronically, and the maximum permitted stay. These three answers are separate questions and are not always on the same page.

Health and customs

Health requirements depend on where you have travelled recently as well as where you are going. Customs allowances apply to goods and to cash. Both are set out by the destination's authorities and should be read there.

Verification

Treat any statement of requirement on this page as an explanation of the process rather than as the rule itself. The rule is whatever the responsible authority currently publishes.
